Rebranding an Infrastructure Giant

This project stands as the most significant one I've undertaken to date. I led the rebranding of a major infrastructure company in Northern Ireland, a company traditionally known for supplying gas to homes and businesses with the bold objective of repositioning it from its fossil fuel roots to a symbol of sustainability and progress.

Process

The Challenge

The company needed a complete image overhaul. The key objectives were:

Transitioning Brand Perception
Shift public perception away from fossil fuels and toward sustainability.

Highlighting Innovation
The rebrand coincided with Evolve’s 2023 UK-first injection of biomethane into the grid.

Managing Stakeholder Complexity
Given the company’s size and the rebrand’s scope, extensive approvals and coordination across multiple departments were required.

The Approach

Strategic Vision & Planning

The project lasted about a year, from early discussions to final rollout. My focus was making sure every part of the rebrand clearly showed the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Brand Guidelines

A detailed 77-page brand guideline was created, covering:

  • Visuals
    Colour schemes, typography, outdoor artwork, social media graphics, vehicle wraps and much more.

  • Consistency
    Clear rules to keep the brand unified across all channels.

  • Implementation
    Step-by-step instructions so every department could follow the new brand direction.

Collaboration

The project required close work with multiple departments and stakeholders to get approvals and keep everyone aligned. This teamwork was key to a successful rebrand. In a project this size, scope and budget, it was important to work together seamless and efficiently as possible while using monday.com as our project management tool to keep everyone on the same page.

Outcome

The rebrand positioned the company as a modern, sustainable energy provider. The 77-page brand guidelines ensured a consistent rollout across all channels, reinforcing the company’s new identity and commitment to moving beyond fossil fuels. This transformation was highlighted by the UK’s first successful injection of biomethane into the grid, a milestone that demonstrated real progress in innovation and sustainability.
